Ava Duvernay really struck gold when she was offered the opportunity to direct the now critically acclaimed film Selma. Although the film has recently been snubbed by the Oscars the self taught director has certainly secured her spot in Hollywood as one of the premiere up and coming Directors of this year.

One of the most pivotal roles in this movie is that of Annie Lee Cooper played by the one and only Oprah Winfrey. Oprah speaks on the importance of the role at a recent press conference at the Mandarin Hotel in New York City.
